About the Event
Claire Galloway once again teams up with pianist John Henderson to present a concert of Scandinavian art song that journeys from mystical legends & fantastical storytelling to bewitching dreams to true heartache and loss. Featuring well-known and beloved composers such as Jean Sibelius and Edvard Grieg alongside Gösta Nystroem and Hugo Alfvén.
The second part of the program will venture into the last thoughts and words of the queens and wives of the frivolously vindictive King Henry VIII, composed by Libby Larsen.
Finally, the late film, jazz, and song composer André Previn's "The Giraffes Go To Hamburg" detailing the trip of two giraffes from their home in Africa and imagining what the future holds for them in the zoos of Germany. This last piece will feature alto soloists Carly Burckhard.
Concert at 7 pm
Wine & hors d'oeuvres at 8:30 pm
